Associates Research Trust- Uganda (ART-U)

The Deeds of Empowerment Program:

Enhancing tenure security for vulnerable women by facilitating the delivery of their land registration documents and transforming their lived experiences into evidence for functional tenure security.

Current Actions:

  1. Providing targeted logistical support to vulnerable women to help them navigate time-consuming bureaucratic processes required to collect their land registration documents.
  2. Implementation of a participatory research methodology to systematically collect, document, and analyse the barriers, including procedural limitations, and other gendered challenges women face throughout the land titles/ certificates delivery process.

ART-U and Landbridge International are delivering uncollected freehold land titles from the SLAAC project to vulnerable women in Oyam district. ARTU has an active partnership with the District Land Office to identify the most vulnerable women that deserve a hand in accessing their Land Titles. The program will use the beneficiaries’ experiences as evidence to drive systemic reforms in land services delivery.
