As National Consultants, develop an Issues Paper, conduct consultations with Special Interest Groups, undertake regional consultations, make presentations to the Senior and Top Management Teams at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, make input to the fourth National Development Plan, prepare a Draft Cabinet Memo, and facilitate the National Land Policy Validation Workshop.

Enabling Women Transition from Customary to Registered Land in Oyam (Ongoing)

Specific Services Rendered

Assist Vulnerable Women gain access to freehold land titles issued under SLAAC from the District Land Office through payment of government fees and helping them navigate the removal of the government fees caveat that these land titles are produced with at the Ministry Zonal Office.

Project Title

‘Measures for Advancing Gender Equality (MAGNET): Testing New Tools to Measure Women’s Agency in Uganda’.

Specific Services Rendered

As a Data Collection Firm, we surveyed 2,200 respondents in central Uganda’s Mukono and Kayunga districts. We customized survey protocols to align with UNCST requirements, navigated the ethical clearance process with both the REC and the UNCST, developed and designed the CAPI, trained enumerators, collected data, and managed the logistics of the survey implementation

In 2023:

Project Title

Feasibility of the policy options stipulated in the National Land Policy 2013 to resolve the Overlapping and Conflicting Land Rights between Registered Land Owners and Occupants on Mailo Land.

Specific Services Rendered

We assessed the feasibility of the four policy options stipulated in the National Land Policy 2013 (Buyouts, COOs, Land sharing, and Leasehold) to resolve the Overlapping and Conflicting Land Rights between Landlords and Tenants/ Occupants on Mailo Land.

Managed a team of 16 enumerators to collect data from 800 Households in a Survey; Key Informant Interviews of registered land owners and land administrators; and Focus Group Discussions of occupants. Study districts: Mityana, Kassanda, Butambala, Mubende, Kiboga, and Kayunga. Year: June and July 2023.

Project Title

A Gender and Land Analysis in Customary Land setting in Uganda.

Specific Services Rendered

The analysis involved Focus Group discussions (8 per district) and Key Informant Interviews (15 per district) amongst Certificates of Customary Ownership (CCO) beneficiaries. The Study Districts were Butaleja, Kabale, Terego, Mbale and Pader District.

Impact Assessment of Community-based Land Registration and Land Use Planning in Uganda

Specific Services Rendered

The impact assessment sought to link Community-based Land Registration and Land Use Planning to Increased Food Security in Uganda. This was a Tracer Survey of 500 Certificates of Customary Ownership (CCO) recipients for a quantitative survey and FGDs after a Pilot Intervention.

Census of Community Based Monitors (CBMs) 72 (35 female) spread in 6 districts (Hoima, Buliisa, Kakumiro, Mubende, Rakai, and Sembabule) and a total of 25 (10 female) supplementary Key Informant Interviews to identify Causes and solutions to lapses in Institutional and program feedback Mechanisms.

Project Title

‘Reaching Smallholder Women with Information Services and Resilience Strategies to Respond to Climate Change’

Specific Services Rendered

Managed the Research Ethical Clearance Process through the REC at Mildmay-Uganda and the UNCST, customized the CAPI to the Uganda Chapter of the Study, designed sampling, trained 20 enumerators, and was responsible for collecting data from 1,400 persons in 700 households using Computer assisted techniques. This was a pane survey with the Baseline done in 2020 and the Endline Done in 2022. b
